I have a used (energy rated) refrigerator and I converted it into a kegerator using the custom door mount kit. I would compare this set up to one of the upper end factory kegerators and its in the same price range, only I went with the custom kit and picked what I wanted for a system. Also, I control the temperature of the beer inside the refrigerator (34-38 degrees). The bigger the keg the longer the beer lasts. I don't miss crushing cans or spending time at the recycle center. The one drawback would be having to drive 30 minutes to get a new keg.
