Centennial is a dual-purpose variety hop with high alpha acids and excellent aromatic capabilities. It's widely used as a finishing or dry hop as a stand-alone variety or part of a blend. This balanced, bittering, and aromatic hop has a decidedly American nature with a uniquely pungent flavor. Centennial pellets include an intense citrus aroma with pronounced lemon notes that also give off some floral qualities that blend well with IPAs, APAs, and Pale Ales. Centennial is sometimes referenced as a super charged Cascade without the grapefruit flavors. Bred in 1974 and released in 1990, centennial's complex parentage includes Brewers Gold, Fuggle, and East Kent Goldings. Centennial pellets occupy many acres in Oregon and Washington.
