7 Gallon Wide Mouth Glass Carboy Reviews

The wide mouth and wide design is perfect for my fermentation chamber. The screw on air lock is a neat idea, and works for some fermentations, but vigorous ones still require a blow off. Having a non-standard size hole (bung #4) is unfortunate, -0.5. The carrier is nice, and while the nylon is strong, when you have 50lbs of liquid in it, you need a towel or gloves or the straps will cut into your palms, -0.5. Overall, way better than the Big Mouth Bubbler and so comes recommended.

Does a good job at fermenting. Wide mouth is a big benefit, Lightweight.

They did a lot of things right. Great capacity, good lid, nice integration of 'calendar' and built-in air-lock on lid, nice that it includes strap/carry system. Where it falls a bit short: straps seem a bit flimsy (should be a bit more stout), and (even on my first use)the airlock reservoir (filled with normal dilution starsan) overflows with peak fermentation, then needs refilling as fermentation eases.

This Carboy is easy to use, clean, and move, even when it's full. It comes with everything. It says 7 gallons but doesn't hold 7 gallons. The 7 gallon carboy is perfect for fermenting 5 gallon batches. Do not get the 5.5 gallon to ferment 5 gallon batches. You will need a blow off tube. I bought two 5.5 gallon carboys and found out the hard way. I use the 7 gal for primary and 5.5 gal for secondary.

I use this carboy as my primary fermenter for my wine, it is so easy to mix because of the wide mouth and extremely easy to clean! I am extremely pleased with it!

These are fabulous for home brewing. Easy to clean and can hold up to 7 gallons of liquid. I use these mainly for secondary fermentation of beer and sometimes aging too. Comes with a dual handle strap to haul around, and a nice heavy duty seal inside the lid. I will be buying more of these soon!

These are the best idea in fermenters I've seen in a long time. They are however very fragile.
A variable 3-4 mm thick by my measurements.
Had a nice surprise 7 gallon mess this morning from what seems to be it just decided to break while I was a work. Was very careful moving it by only sliding on cardboard and a towel using the straps. I'm still confused how it broke.
Another 2mm thick of glass during manufacture would do wonders for the strength of these. Overall still a very nice fermenter besides the thin glass.

used as both primary and secondary fermenters for making wine. they are exactly as advertised. Easy to handle and clean. they seal as they are supposed to. although I do tape them up as I do with any of my carboys, small necked ones also. I have the 3,5,and 7 gallon ones. expanding operation and will order more. several friends have converted to using them

Great Price! Great Quality! I usually use glass fermenters for a secondary fermenter which helps refine my beers. plastics fermenters I use only as a primary, because they can eventually absorb odors and since they're only holding beer for a little under a week sometimes, depending on the gravity readings. Secondary glass fermenters do not impart odors nor flavors that effect which is presently in the carboy. Most fermenters do not come with a carrying strap, and I love the brew date reminder dial! Great Idea!

TL;DR - You won't regret getting a couple of these in your brewing lineup.

It's a heavy/thick walled sucker with a very stout opening. It will be easy to clean by hand, and should sit well on the shelf with the others. Not having the longer neck makes it lower profile and less blow off concern for 6 gallon batches.

The whole date dial on top is neat but only going to be useful for very active brewers.

When I need more space, I'll be buying more of these.

Bought 2 of these to replace my trusty old buckets. One was broken when I received it, and they shipped out another immediately. Am using my first one right now (brewed my "Highgarden Belgian-Style Ale" yesterday, & it's bubbling away this morning). The carrying sling seems a little flimsy, so I'm using one of my other heavier carriers. I also cut a 12" piece of high density foam to put under the carboy, inside the sling, to help protect against breakage from setting it down too hard. Should be easy to clean, and fits in my 5.5CF chest freezer/fermenter.

I haven't used any other wide mouth carboy but the technology makes your life, after primary, so much better. I am using these for primary now and then going into my standard carboys for my secondary so the mess is in the vessel that is easy to clean.

I used this as a secondary for dry hopping a Rye PA. Cleaning this fermenter was so easy that I plan to use it as a primary.

One batch in them now. Before I used them I filled them gallon by gallon to mark off the increments with a rubbermaid cooler with the gallon markings inside. I only got about 6-3/4 gallons in it, all the way to the top.

The carboy arrived well packaged and in excellent condition. I've not used the carboy yet so I can only speak to my impression of it. The lid is solid and fits well on the jar. In my opinion the lid will seal nicely. I wish that I had more to share about it but I feel that this was an overall excellent purchase and I'm anxious for my brew buddies to see it.
